About Elizabeth – Courage to Speak Coaching
I thought my child was just shy until her Pre-K teacher told me my child hadn’t spoken a word to any adult since the start of the school year. That moment changed everything. I inquired with a school counselor friend about what could be going on and she simply said, "Google Selective Mutism." I did and it set the pace for the next decade for our family. As a parent, I realized that what happens at home doesn’t always reflect what happens at school.

I’m Elizabeth, and I’ve spent more than a decade working with children in sports and building their confidence while addressing their anxieties. I also specialize working with children with selective mutism and supporting the parents who love them. I’ve received parent training through the Child Mind Institute’s Selective Mutism Program as well as continuing education through InStrides. I have worked with my own child using Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT-SM), Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy (CBD) and Exposure therapy. This gives me practical, research-based strategies to guide families in real-life situations using praise, reflection, accommodation reduction and exposures.

At Courage to Speak Coaching, I focus exclusively on parent support. While I am not a licensed therapist, my work is rooted in compassion, experience and proven techniques. I listen to parent's challenges and help them understand Selective Mutism, navigate school challenges, and implement strategies at home to encourage communication and confidence.

I believe every parent deserves guidance, reassurance and practical tools so you can empower your child without feeling overwhelmed or alone. Together, we’ll create a plan (or help implement your current therapist's plan) to help your child find their voice in every environment.
